Digital Creature Shop – Production Internal
The Jim Henson Company has remained an established leader in family entertainment for over 60 years and is recognized worldwide as an innovator in puppetry, animatronics and animation. Henson’s most recent television credits include Duff’s Happy Fun Bake Time for Discovery+, Earth to Ned for Disney+, Fraggle Rock: Rock On! for Apple TV+, and the Emmy Award-winning Netflix Original series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. The Company is currently in production on the upcoming series Harriet the Spy and a reboot of Fraggle Rock, both for Apple TV+, as well as Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio for Netflix, and the feature film The Portable Door.
The Digital Creature Shop is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated interns who are eager to learn live action and virtual production in our Digital Creature Shop department. This internship takes place in-person, on the historic Charlie Chaplin lot in Hollywood. You will shadow and support the Manager, Digital Production throughout the internship. You will see how our company functions from behind the scenes and play a large role in contributing to our goals.
TITLE: DCS Editorial/Production Intern

Who you are:
-
A junior or senior majoring in film/video production
-
Proven fluency in video editing (Adobe Premiere Pro)
-
Experience as a crew member on multiple student film sets.

The position requires some manual labor (moving and setting up equipment)
-
Reliable team member with a positive, collaborative attitude.

Competence in one (or more) of the following areas is a plus: production audio, DIT management, lighting, basic camera operation

Familiarity with animation workflows, Maya and/or Unreal Engine is a plus
JHC’s DCS Production Internship is open to college students who are currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university. Candidates must be available a minimum of 16 hours per week (days and hours to be determined).

What you will do:

Take on editing responsibilities for Henson social media and web videos. This includes ingesting & organizing audio and camera files, editing audio and

video in Adobe Premiere Pro, and exporting for social media and web platforms.

Be a key production resource for productions in the DCS “mini-studio”. This is a space that we use to produce social media content and other small projects. You will assist users with camera operation, audio recording, file management, and possibly video editing.

Production assistant for the DCS department: move, set up, and strike computers, cables, set elements as needed

Assist with organization and inventory management of DCS equipment

This internship is an unpaid position open to all current students who will receive school credit for the internship.

All candidates must get prior approval from their school/academic advisor confirming that they will receive school credit for the internship.

School credit confirmation must be presented to JHC prior to beginning an internship.
