The person in this role will be a JHC ambassador that represents the HR department well.  Intelligence and willingness to learn are highly desirable traits.

Job Duties

  • Support the hiring and termination process for project-based employees in the CA and NY Creature Shops, as well as the Henson Recording Studio. Duties include:
    • Drafting and collecting signatures on Deal Memos (offer letters), processing hiring paperwork, I-9s, etc.
    • Data entry into the ADP payroll system to support hiring and terminating employees
    • Monitoring end dates for Project employees and initiating the termination process to include requesting final pay
    • Adding the correct project code to each Deal Memo
    • Interfacing effectively with our teams in each shop and the Recording studio
    • Handling project employee processing in a fast-paced environment to support the ever-changing needs of the business
  • Support the Vice President, Human Resources in all aspects of HR as needed and requested
  • Handle day-to-day HR support functions for staff employees and interns
  • Responsible for benefits administration; ensuring all monthly invoices are reconciled, approved and paid in a timely manner.
  • Shows ability to articulate and present the company’s benefits offering to employees
  • Supports the annual Open Enrollment process, including working with insurance broker, various carriers, and ADP.
  • Updates and maintains information in ADP
  • Responsible for filing workers’ compensation claims and administering proper reports and paperwork.
  • Supports 401(k) activity as needed including portal management, employee requests/questions, withdrawals, rollovers, loans; circulating invoices for payment.
  • Responsible for completing all employment verifications
  • Administers leave of absence in collaboration with the Vice President, Human Resources; communication with employees and department heads regarding leave policies and procedures; complete state disability forms and coordinate state benefits with Company benefits; complete and file all EDD reports.
  • Handles all HR tasks in compliance with current CA and NY laws and regulations
  • Maintains an open-door policy for employee inquiries and escalates issues as appropriate to the VP, Human Resources
  • Assists with special projects and helps with company events.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an HR support role is required (Admin or Coordinator)
  • Experience working in a creative, tech, media or entertainment company is highly desirable
  • Full of great ideas and passionate about innovation to bring our practices current
  • Self-starting, proactive, with a positive attitude.
  • Familiarity and ability to navigate payroll systems, preferably ADP
  • Proficient with the MS Office Suite
  • Strong administrative skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
