Jim Henson won an Emmy for Best Direction in a variety or music program for his work on Dog City, a Depression-era story of gangsters and heroes set in a city populated by dog puppets. Originally airing as part of The Jim Henson Hour, the "Dog City" special then spun off into the animated series "Jim Henson's Dog City" distributed by Nelvana (1993 - 1996).
